Mean Gene Kelton with his Peavey ValveKing

 Peavey Corporation

(Houston, Texas June 29, 2007) Blues-rocker Mean Gene Kelton has joined the ranks with Ted Nugent, Joe Satriani, Randy Bachman (of BTO) and Scotty Moore (lead guitarist in Elvis Presley’s first band) by signing a coveted endorsement agreement with Peavey Electronics Corporation.Details of the agreement are not made public but both parties seem to be please to be wearing each others colors. Kelton’s name and image may now be used in national publications promoting Peavey products.

Hartley Peavey, President and founder of Peavey Electronics says, “all of us at Peavey are excited to have Mean Gene Kelton as one of our endorsees. Coming from a state (Mississippi) that is ‘home of the Blues’, I have been a blues guy from way back… and Genes’ Texas-style Blues are right up there with good ole Mississippi Blues, and we are proud to have Gene helping spread the news re: The Blues! Mean Gene’s passion and artistry comes through in his music. We here at Peavey are just a passionate about our equipment and feel that Mean Gene’s artistry and our gear will be a great team!”

“I am proud to be a part of the Peavey family,” says Kelton, “and also proud to say that I have used Peavey equipment as far back as the mid-seventies. Peavey equipment has never let me down. I don’t know why Hartley Peavey has never named an amplifier ‘The Work Horse’ because that is the most common name we performers affectionately use when referring to Peavey’s ‘work horse’ durability.”

“I’ve seen beer, coffee, rain and Gulf of Mexico beach sand pour into the vents of Peavey amps and they still work! I’ve seen Peavey equipment fall out of the back of moving trucks, fall out of chairs, fall off of stages and even roll down a flight of steps, and still work! At an outdoor show in 1993, an 80-pound concrete flagpole stand fell off the roof of a two story building and splintered the wood casing on top of my 1988 Peavey Bandit 65. Even though it looked like it had been through a wood chipper, it still played perfectly for another six years!”

“On my first CD (Most Requested) released in January of 2000, I used a Bandit 112 TransTube wired into a salvaged Peavey Combo 300 with a 15 inch speaker,” says Kelton. “A fellow musician saw my ragged ‘Franken-Peavey’ rig on stage and busted out laughing saying that he had seen a Marshall Stack but that was the first time he had ever seen a Peavey Pile.”

“I got the last laugh because my so called ‘Peavey Pile’ landed me six #1 songs and that first CD reached #13 on Billboard Magazine’s Hits Of The Web! That CD (Most Requested) is still paying the rent around here.”

“At the time of this writing, July 2007, my latest amp is a 2007, 100 watt, Peavey Valveking 212 Combo. It kicks ass in any size venue!”
